Most of the pools and water containers in Yucatan are made with stone masonry. Old technology with great results, you can see some old water holding tanks and reservoirs next to many old haciendas in the area. Judging by the age of some of those structures it appears to be better material for this p...

Hi With those two choices I would go with the oil stain. Why don’t you try Thompson stain it is really a sealer with color in it and as far as I am concern it works better than other types of exterior stains. Adam |

I think it would be wise to get the permit to do that; you will get it over the counter in the Building Dep. More important, do it in the way the CFE want it done, if you visit their office they will give you already printed picture pamphlets showing how to do it, materials required, sizes and dimen...

Hi I can’t recommend anyone for the job, I have done it couple of times and it didn’t work as expected. Possibly, you are having bad experiences because you are looking for an answer on the internet? If I were you, I would ask around, there are many Gringos in Merida who are using people to manage t...

I have to agree with you Jerry. Baro-Baro is probably best place to buy this type of products in Merida, unfortunately, since all the tiles sold there are imported from other parts of Mexico, delivery on time should be consider as a miracle.

In most cases fixing it is less problematic than finding it. There are people who find leaks professionally in Merida, I don’t have their numbers but if you go to “Hydrotrol” pool supply located in the back of “Gran Plaza Mall” they will give you this guy’s number there. He will find a leak and your...

If you are using a 20 amp breaker, 100 watt light bulb and 120 volt line, you would use the following. Remember, for safety you will only use 80% of the breaker capacity. 20A x 120v = 2400 watts x 80% = 1920 watts ÷ 100 watts = 19 bulbs You are OK with 12 bulbs; just make sure to use at least # 14 w...

Hi There are no rules that I know of. But there is common sense and even if no one will inspect your new lines you should run it deep enough so you or your gardener will not cut into it while planting something (If you can’t bury it more than 2 feet, cover it with some concrete), you should run it i...

Hi The best thing that I have tried is called “Trampa”; it will take two or three days to destroy the entire colony. It comes in small white plastic container with the green letters and a picture of three ants. You can buy it in Home Depot in the garden section. Adam |

Hi With the improvement of LED technology, it may be worth to investigate this alternative. New LED light bulb will give you the same amounts of light and will require lot less electricity and at the same time will last lot longer. There are several types of exterior light fixtures that will accommo...
