Before purchasing my dream home in the city center, I would like to know if you require by law a pest inspection? Is there a problem with termites due to the humidity? If so, can you advise an expert to treat the house to prevent termites or other pests?

There are termites in Centro as well as everywhere in Yucatan. There are no laws in Merida which would require buyer to have his house inspected or fumigated before the actual sale.
However it is a good practice to have your home checked periodically by the exterminator and sprayed for termites, ants and all the other creatures. There are many companies in Merida dedicated to bugs extermination.

I would like to contribute with an "old remedy", we used to pour "Gas Morado" on the Termites lines and work. This is very easy to get in any Tlapaleria in Merida, it is a little smely though.
