What do you guys think about polished concrete countertops, are they durable and stain resistant?

 Re: Concrete countertops
Hi Polished countertop could be interesting and cheaper alternative to the stone countertops, providing that it is done right. It cost lot less than marble or granite but you never know exactly how colored concrete countertop will look until you make some samples and the final outcome might not be exactly what you expected. Final look and durability largely depends on the experience of the guy that is doing the job and the grinding tools he has. In reality, 50% of the countertops I have seen in Merida wouldn’t pass the minimum standard required in the North, and for that reason they need to be sealed and waxed about once a month to prevent staining. Re: Concrete countertops
One other thing, concrete counter tops will only work if made of concrete thicker than 3 ½ ” anything less than that will most likely crack sooner or later, especially if it is made with white cement, and should be considered as cheap alternative to a real counter tops.
