you can make home made cleaner rather than using other cleaner that contain chemicals. Mix half cup of baking soda and two gallons of water and then apply it with sponge on your tile never use harsh chemicals on tiles that may affect the color of tile and may reduce the polish of it you will not able to see it immediately but can see the change slowly.

Hi
There are many tile cleaners available and most of them will do the good job on your tiles. Traditional, in Yucatan people were using baking soda to clean the floor and paraffin oil (kerosene) and naphtha (aceite rojo) or wax to treat them.
You can buy all those products in small hardware stores all over Merida. It was applied one a week by qualified “muchacha” (cleaning lady).
If you prefer to have you pasta floors shiny, you have to hire floor polisher, it cost around 500 pesos for a day.
This guy can make your floors looking like glass, you can ask him to come back every 6 months or so and buff it to maintain this shine.
Other people prefer when their floors look little distress and just clean and wax it from time to time.

For those with vct tile garage floors, I have a few questions. What is your maintenance schedule and what kind of products do you use? What type of sealents are being used out there as well. I ask because I just got done doing my garage about two weeks ago and now Im to the point of whanting to seal and polish the floor for that perfect shine.

TIA

Eric.

Hi
We are talking about Vinyl Composition Tile.
There are many products available to keep this type of tiles shiny; you can find them in Home Depot and large grocery stores. For VCT and Pasta Tiles I prefer to use natural bee’s waxes, they are available in most of small hardware stores around the town.
They are natural and have excellent sealing qualities. If you are in Merida you may be better off if you contact the guys which polish floors professionally (pulidor, pulidor de pisos in Spanish).
They will do the job lot better, cheaper and faster and they will give you advice on perfect finish.
