Hello I need to restore or replace old stone banister and stone handrail on my front porch, I want to make extra sure that I am getting the right type of stone and right person to do this job. Any recommendation? Thanks.

Hi and welcome! Probably the best thing you can do is to take short drive to town called Dzitya; it is just outside Merida on the way to Progreso. Most of locals there live from stone carving and stone related businesses. You will easily find what you are looking for and you may even enjoy the trip.

 Re: Stone porch railings
If you want to restore or replace the banister with a new stone then there are many stores where different types of stones are available with different sizes, color and shapes. Even some stones are used as dry porch and some are used under water. But before putting new stones in the banister you will have to measure it and then will have to bring it from store. Use chisel or something related to it to remove stones. Use glue and tape to stick the stone. After that remove the tape.
