Post Grout for tub
Hi Adam - TropicAL here.
We recently laid a WHITE tile floor in our new tub. The small white tiles look great. But when we used BLANCO GROUT, UNSANDED specifically designed for what we were doing - it dried beige! Of course now the tub looks horrible with beige lines.
What can we do at this point - other than digging it all out and starting over?
Is there another WHITE product we can use to go over it? (we only need the aesthetic finish at this point)
Many thanks again,
TropicAL

Hi TropicAl
Sorry to hear that, you have a very nice bathtub.
This is a tough one. Normally it takes about couple of days before new grout dries and looks the way it will always look. Always - white grouts look lot darker when freshly applied. I would wait couple of days and see how it will look then. If it looks good – don’t forget to seal it.
If after couple of days it doesn’t look right, than you are in trouble.
You can try to clean it with some oxygen based cleaners or try to mop it with chlorine bleach, it may work but if it doesn’t and you still hate the color – scrape the new grout as soon as possible and re-grout it again. Longer you wait; harder it will be to remove it. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can use to go over the dry grout to make it look good and last for some time.
Interesting part is: when you bought the grout, it was the right color. What made it look different after: was it water you mixed it with? Or application technique? (gray color rug used for cleaning rubbed into the fresh grout)
In any case it is always wise to make small sample day or so before the main grouting event.
I hope it will work out, Good luck.
