Post Beach home - Sea wall
Hi!
Is it necessary, to have a sea wall on front of my beach front property?
and if so, how much would it cost to build one?

Post Re: Beach home - Sea wall
Hi Nelly
It is not necessary to have a sea wall, but it is a good idea to have one.
There are two major reasons for it:
-Damage that occurs to the beach houses during the hurricane is attributed to the sea water washing sand from under the foundation of the house, then gravity takes over and the structure collapses. If you have sea wall on front of your house it will protect the property and the structure behind it, from being undermined.
-Another good reason is that in last couple of years most of the insurance companies in this area will not insure any beach house without the sea wall.
-The price usually depends on the height of the wall and its type, but generally will be between 400 -1000 $ US per linear meter of the wall.
