Post Hurricane shutters
Hi

How often do hurricanes that cause damage happen here? and does it make to sense to install hurricane shutters in Yucatan beach area?

Hello Martin
Natives claim that “the big one” comes about every 10 years, and in respect to the hurricane shutters or storm panels:
It will definitely protect your home from the storms and it will be more difficult to break into, but it has a several drawbacks: generally expensive, require maintenance and there is always a question of esthetics. We do not have it in our beach house and I am not going to install it. I think it in case of a large hurricane I will put my stuff up in the 2nd floor or do what everyone is doing – load it up and take it in my truck to Merida.
